Division 6 asbestos audit

A Division 6 asbestos and hazardous materials survey is required prior to demolition, renovation or refurbishment of a building where asbestos is suspected or known to be present.

The purpose of the Division 6 survey is to identify all asbestos materials, as far as is possible, so that they can be safely removed by an asbestos removal contractor prior to demolition. The asbestos materials are recorded in an asbestos register with information about the type, location, condition, ‘friablity’ (soft or bonded materials), exposure risk and removal recommendations

A Division 6 asbestos survey can be disruptive to normal business or home activities as the investigation requires minor demolition of surfaces and finishes.
The survey is carried out when the building or area has been vacated, well in advance of the proposed demolition or refurbishment.

The asbestos removal contractor will use the Division 6 asbestos register to price the work, develop safe removal procedures and locate the asbestos material for removal.
