Asbestos Identification / Testing

The first step in managing asbestos is to identify asbestos materials in the workplace or in your home.

If you are about to undertake demolition or refurbishment projects, asbestos-containing building materials need to be identified before they are disturbed.

 Division 5 Asbestos Survey

An asbestos register is required for all occupied workplaces, including offices factories, warehouses, schools and hospitals.

Division 6 Asbestos and Hazardous Materials Survey
(Pre-demolition /refurbishment)

A Division 6 asbestos survey is undertaken prior to demolition or refurbishment. It consists of a comprehensive review of the current asbestos register, plus further detailed investigation of the building to locate asbestos-containing materials.

The purpose of the survey is to identify asbestos materials so that they can be safely removed from the site before demolition begins.

Asbestos Management Plan (AMP)

An Asbestos management plan (AMP) is recommended for large sites where the presence of fixed and installed asbestos materials is an ongoing health and safety risk to employees and contractors.

The AMP is a comprehensive document developed for the workplace, and provides practical guidance on how to comply with occupational health and safety requirements in relation to the safe management of asbestos.
