Asbestos identification/testing

Most older homes built from the 1930’s onward, will contain asbestos materials in the kitchen, bathroom, laundry and toilet areas and exterior eaves, walls, roof, chimneys and fencing.

Outbuildings such as car garages, garden sheds and outside toilets were often constructed from asbestos fibro-cement sheet.

Manufacture and use of asbestos-containing construction materials, such as fibro-cement sheet, were gradually phased out from the mid 1980's.

Modern cement sheet is very similar in appearance to the old asbestos fibro-cement sheet which it replaced. It can be difficult to identify modern materials from asbestos containing materials by eye. The only way to be certain is to sample the material and have it analysed by an accredited laboratory.

If you are about to undertake demolition or renovation projects at your property, asbestos building materials need to be identified and safely removed before you begin.
We always recommend that a full asbestos survey of your home / property is undertaken so that asbestos materials can be safely removed before the project begins.

Asbestos Safety West can travel to your site and collect samples for laboratory analysis. Once the analysis is complete, we will provide you a comprehensive written report including laboratory results and recommendations.
